we develop programs for the efficient use of natural resources

WE ARE A SOCIALLY AND ENVIRONMENTALLY RESPONSIBLE HOTEL

As a tourist service provider, the Hotel Vilar América is committed to reducing the negative impact of our activity in environmental, socio-cultural, and economic terms. To that end, we develop programs for the efficient use of natural resources, the reduction of polluting agents, the promotion of Colombian cultural heritage, the support of communities, and the prevention of the sexual exploitation of minors.

We strive to continually raise awareness among our staff and guests

We also seek compliance with legislation and strive to respect the rights of our employees, suppliers, customers, and guests, within the framework of sustainable development.
We have the international certification THE CODE (prevention against the sexual and commercial exploitation of children and adolescents).

We have always aimed to be a business that is better for the world

That’s why, in 2020, we were certified as a B Corporation, and we were the first hotel in Colombia to receive this recognition. With this certification, we have joined a global movement of businesses that aim to generate a positive social and environmental impact at every link in their activity.

- We are moving along the path towards renewable energy sources: we have installed 113 solar panels which provide 25% of our total energy consumption.

- We care about water, throughout its cycle, and we have installed a water saving system in showers, basins, and toilets.
We are working towards sustainable livestock farming: at the Hotel Vilar, we are committed to animal welfare. For that reason, all of our eggs, and all products containing egg as an ingredient, are from cage-free hens. This is a permanent decision and applies in all our buildings.

- We are committed to reducing non-useful waste: we do not use plastic cups or packaging, and we have installed amenity dispensers which equate to a reduction of 3500 pounds of non-useful plastic each year.
